I pray that God will bring wisdom and understanding as we share on standing your ground in the Lord. When I was thinking of this message, God put in me the idea of a tree. It will always stand its ground all the time. Imagine of a tree that was not deep rooted and every wind that comes, however small it might be, moves it. Where would the tree be located at the end of a single day?
I believe there is something to learn from a tree as a christian. Psalms 1:3 “He is like a tree planted besides streams of water that bears it’s fruits in season and whose leaf does not wither.” Those who trust in the Lord are referred to us as trees. The same words are repeated in Jeremiah 17:8. What is it about trees that we should learn? There is so much to learn in trees but I would like us to consider its ability to stand firm. We, being trees, which are deep rooted in the Lord Jesus should stand strong knowing that we are anchored on the Cornerstone. We are not trees located on some space but we are on a firm and solid ground in Jesus.
A tree cannot be deep rooted and fail to be strong. Standing your ground will automatically follow once you are well anchored in the Lord. God will always leave that to our choice. Have you chosen to be deep rotted in the Lord? Stability is one thing that God really values. The ability to stand for something. I believe if you don’t stand for something, you are due for anything. Matthew 5:13 “Yu are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and be trampled on by men.” The Word says that salt has to be salt. Being anything less, it will be of no use and will have to be disposed. We are the salt of the earth and our impact should be felt in the earth just as the salts taste is felt on food.
Salt losing its taste. Is it possible for a Christian to lose taste? I would say yes. If we don’t stand our grounds to be the salt that we ought to be, we will definitely loose the taste of a Christian. I came to a point of asking myself how much of salt I taste. Am I salt to all people or to some I have turned out tasteless? Salt will never go unnoticed. The taste will definitely come out clear. Sometimes we will have to push ourselves hard to be the salt that we ought to be. In the desire to be like Christ. Doing all that it takes not to lose our taste as the salt of the world. I pray that God will help us be the salt that He desires us to be.
God has invited us all to a party. The party is Christianity. He desires that we all be in a dress code that is similar to that of His Son Jesus Christ. Are you ready to change your wad rope for God’s invitation? Matthew 5:15-16 “No one lights a lamp and puts in under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it will give light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” For you to light a lamp, you must fuel it and later start the spark. The same case applies to us Christians, we must refill our lamps spiritually and make the decision to light them up for us to be light to others that they may see something in us and desire it. May we take an action of faith and light our lamps in the Lord.
As I conclude, there are things that we should observe in order to be good salt and light to the world. Imagine being on a spot light where everyone is looking at you and your actions determines how they perceive what you represent. We are all witnesses Jesus as Christians. Every time we do something that is not Christ-like, the world will be looking at us and we might end up being salt which no longer holds its taste. May God help us not conform to the patterns of the world but instead transform and impact the people around us as the salt and light of the world. Shalom.
