I welcome you as we share this message on being led by the Spirit of God. I pray that God will bring revelation, knowledge and understanding as we share it. How many times have you been to a new location that you were not conversant with? Did you get stranded at some point? How did you go about it?
I have severally found myself stranded in some places. In some cases, I would go on my way believing that I can trace my paths on my own but later came to realise that I getting further away from where I wanted to be. Consulting has always been the way out. Looking at the consequences, I actually decided never to do something that am not sure about without consulting about it. Could it be that our spiritual lives too need consulting at some point? How often do you consult with the Spirit of God before going on to do what you want? This are just but a few questions that I believe will find answers here.
Am amused by our all-knowing God. Can you imagine how easy and convenient it would be for you consulting with someone who knows everything about what you want to know. It really saves you a lot of time and energy wandering around other things. This is who God is in every area of our lives. He dwells in divine revelation. There is no question in His mind. Everything comes as an answer. He never gets to a point and stops to think what will happen next. He has the answer to every question on earth. What a wonderful Father we have. God, I worship you for who You are.
Through the dead of Jesus, The Trinity of God came to dwell within us through the Holy Spirit who was poured out to us. The Spirit of truth in whom there is no lie lives in us today. John15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness about me”. This was Jesus promising the Holy Spirit to His disciples. He refers to the Spirit as a Helper. He is here to help us out of our every situation. Whenever we need help from people, especially where guidance is concerned, we always consult will them. How much more should we consult with our Helper?
Sometimes I have found myself doing things my way and later coming to invite God at a later stage when I feel like maybe things were not working as I expected. What a mistake. Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your activities to the Lord and your plans will be achieved”. When you commit something to God, you leave it at His hands to decide how to go about it. Following God’s verdict after committing our plans to Him should not be left out. God, who is all knowing gives us answers through His Holy Spirit. The Spirit gives affirmation and now begins to help us out. There are times when God will decline your plans or push them to some other time. The Holy Spirit will definitely give you the answer but the choice will always be yours. Isaiah 63:10 “But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit. So He became their enemy and fought against them.” There will always be consequences of defying and rebelling against the Holy Spirit.
God will never lead us astray. Being all knowing, He knows all that lies ahead for us and He will always want the best for His sons. He never works blindly, and we too should not. He has given us His Spirit to lead us. How I pray that God will help us learn to consult with Him in every area of our lives and obey His commands upon our lives through His Holy Spirit. Romans 8:14 “All those led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons.” May we desire to be identified as God’s sons. Shalom.
