Evil will always happen. Things that might cause you to stumble on your walk with Christ. Jesus assured us of this in Luke 17:1(“Temptations to sin are sure to come; but woe to him whom they come!”)We cannot run away from it but by the Grace of God we shall overcome. Wish I could hear you say amen.
Choosing between evil and good is something that God has always left in our hand. Imagine of a situation of choosing cards and the card you pick determines so much in what is to happen. Galatians 6:7 (“Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap”) God highly holds His words and He will never bend them to suit any human being on earth. He clearly puts it that despite how much He loves you, if you choose evil you will definitely reap from it. This is God’s way of disciplining and as well blessing them that He loves, reaping what we sow. Choosing a card. How will I choose the right cards in the many issues arising in life. May God help us.
God will never demand something from us that He has not given. Luke 12:48(“But he who did not know, and did what deserved a beating ,shall receive a light beating. Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required; and of him to whom men commit much they will demand the more ”)He has given us the knowledge and wisdom to discern what is right expecting that we shall choose right. James 3:17 (“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty and insincerity.”)Being open to reason is one of the gifts that we should thank God for.
The devil fights to make the condition really hard for you to choose good. Anger is one of the things that he uses to fuel his agendas. We are more likely to choose wrong when angry. This is because the devil closes the openness to reason that we have freely received from God and we find ourselves directing all the anger on the offence and end up choosing the wrong card. What more would the devil desire. Mission accomplished for him. James 1:20(“for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God ”)Once you choose the wrong cards, be assured of God’s strokes in love. Proverbs 3:12(“for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.”)
Peace of the mind. This is something we are not to lose as Christians. It will always be our breakthrough from temptations. It creates a good environment for the soundness of the mind that God has given us. John 14:27(“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful”)Jesus has provided us His peace but we have a role to play in maintaining it and holding to it dearly. This is because the devil will always try to steal it through anger, worries, fear and anxiety. Making a decision in a sound mind and peace will surely help us the right cards. The cards that will come with God’s blessing.
The choice between good and bad has always been God’s grading system. He will always award you the marks after passing the exam. The same case happens when we fail. Just like a school setting, the going will always get tougher as we grow spiritual, the tests that we were once given as young Christians will advance to be more difficult. Will you pass or fail? This will always be the bottom line. Passing grade one gives no assurance of passing grade two, but it gives us the hope that we shall overcome what is ahead of us just as we have done in the past. May God help us overcome evil with good. Shalom.
