HAVING THE MIND OF GOD 1ST CORINTHIANS 2:16(“FOR WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE SHOULD INSTRUCT HIM?” BUT WE HAVE CHRIST’S MIND.)

I welcome you all as we share the Word of God. Today I want to build on the precepts that we discussed yesterday concerning spiritual maturity. We said that once we mature up, God begins to give us mandates in His Kingdom as co-workers. We develop common interests with God. I want to introduce the topic on having the mind of God. I want us to understand that God has great things in store for us but He will never release them to us all at once. They are too much for a human mind to bear. Psalms 139:17 (“How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum!”). God designed our minds to take bits by bits of His plans and intentions.

God will never have questions in His mind. Everything to Him is an answered. He never gets to a point of being stranded. He dwells in divine revelation with the ability to read our thoughts Psalms 139:1-2(“Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I stand up; You understand my thoughts from far away.”) Once we begin a walk, we God, He begins by transforming our mind that that they may align with His. The fact that God has no questions in His mind and everything is an answer to Him dictates that once we begin sharing in the mind of God, questions and doubts should clearly completely. This message came from an experience I have had, I have dreamt of God opening doors in certain areas of my life severally and every time it came to my mind, I would ask myself, “Will this really happen?”

It was then that I heard a servant of God preaching that we could limit God through our thinking. There is so much power in the imagination of our minds that God wants us to open. He actually instructed the Israelites in Joshua 1:8 to meditate upon His Word. (“This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite in day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in everything you do.”)I want us to relate this verse with that in Genesis 11:6 (“Yahweh said, “Behold, they are one people ,and they all have one language ,and this is what they begin to do. Now nothing will be withheld from them, which they intend to do ”).This were a people who had imagined building a tower to reach the sky and in verse 5 the Bible says that Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower ,which the children of men built. The reason God had to stop them was because their agendas did not align with those of God. This is the reason God will always have control over our minds and decides what is to succeed and what is not to succeed.

God Himself is not a loser, so once our thoughts align with His, we can be assured of winning. Numbers 14:9 (“Only don’t rebel against the Lord, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land, for we will devour them. Their protection has been removed from them, and the Lord is with us. Don’t be afraid of them!”) These are Joshua and Caleb speaking to the Israelites after the other ten spies had discouraged them that the inhabitants of the land were like giants to them. Once you share in the mind of God, you see possibilities in all impossibilities. You develop Godly optimism.

The only limitation in having the mind of God is doubting.  James 17:7-8(“For that man shouldn’t think that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double minded-man, unstable in all his ways”). This is because God Himself is not double minded. Believing helps us fights doubts. Mark 9:23(“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”). Believing is born out of Faith, mixing what God promises us with Faith as recorded in Hebrews 4:2.

I pray that God will hep us in our unbelief and doubts that we shall receive His plans and desires upon our lives. Shalom.
