I welcome you all as we share in this message concerning spiritual maturity. God, being a wonderful and responsible Father desires that we grow spirituality in Him. It’s amazing how God decided that His grown-up Son be born here on earth as a child. Being mature in the spirit and young in the flesh. You can recall that Jesus would teach the teachers of the law the Word of God at the age of 12 years. Growth is something that even the earthly parents will always desire for their children. Not only growth but all timely growth such that they will not be lagging behind or presently doing things which they ought to have done a long while ago.
But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is Lord of all. Our earthly laws dictate very clearly that there are age limitations below which a child cannot receive their inheritance. The wealth we be in the hands of the attorneys until he or she is of age. The same case applies to the Kingdom of God. There are things that God will hold for you until you are of age. You might never learn what God has always been doing things for you until He decides to let you know of the work He has been doing. At some point, after He raises you both physically and spiritually, He will expect you to start taking responsibility of some of the matters in His Kingdom.1st Corinthians 3:9(“For we are God’s co-workers, God’s fields, God’s buildings.)God will never invest in what will not profit His Kingdom. That is the reason He has found Himself fields and buildings(us) with the intention that we will bring profit and honour to His Kingdom.
You cannot be a good co-worker if you are not mature enough. Jesus was spiritually mature at a young age but God had to raise Him physically until He was of age to start working with the Father again. John 5:19(“Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father doing. For whatever things He does, these the Son also does likewise”). We have been made sons in the Kingdom of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Having been made co-workers, the interests of the Father have become our interests. I would view God as a CEO of a Company. He will always looks for the strong and competitive people to be part of His work force. This ensures that the work is done correctly thus reducing His work to monitor everything because He has good people in control. Are you part of the strong work force God desires in His Kingdom?
Hebrews 5:12-13(“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of God’s word. You need milk, not solid food; for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a child.”)There is nothing wrong with being a child, the problem is being a child for too long. God desires that we grow and change our diet from milk to solid food. Some of the solid food include prayers, the word of God and serving God at your level. Transition from milk to solid food. I would explain this in prayers. It’s very hard for children to fast because their bodies are at an age that really requires food from time to time. On maturing up, it becomes easy if you purpose it in your mind; one because you know what you get out of prayers and secondly because you have learnt of the principles of the Word of God and you need no one to teach them to you again we have seen above.
There are instances where God will cut the milk and you realise that you have no option than finding the solid food because feeding will never be optional even in the Kingdom of God. It did happen to me not a long while ago. I was in this kind of dream that was to me the most real spiritual warfare I have experienced. I felt like it was God telling me, “Son, you have to mature up now”. I woke up to start a fast on that morning, something I had not planned. I have not been in the walk for long, but this far I have seen God reveal Himself to me in such a great way.
Once you decide to mature up spiritually, God Himself helps you grow. May we desire to grow in the Lord that we shall be the co-workers that God desires us to be. He has invested so much in us. Let it account to something. Shalom
